A Vow For Life

What’s in a promise?
Vow-writing can be one of the most stressful bits of wedding planning. You’ll often hear that both bride and groom sometimes leave the task undone right up until the night before the big day! It’s no surprise – writing your own vows, your sincerest promises to your spouse that you’re going to announce to every person in your world, are rightfully daunting and should be taken in absolute seriousness.
What can you put in a vow? Virtually anything. You can tell your partner why you love them, why you’re going to love them for the rest of your life forever and also state your intentions and what your relationship means to you.
Just be honest, open, and speak from the heart. Look over your vows and revise them. Ask, “If I had one chance to convince them to marry me, what would I say?” Draw inspiration from your memories, your wedding invites, magazines, pick ideas from the internet, even. It doesn’t hurt to look!
If all else fails and you’re still completely blank by the end of your deadline, there’s always the standard template to fall back on, which your priest or ordained minister can provide. Phew!
